         Active participant of the German cultural center.

         Studies at musical school (vocal department). Now is trained in the fifth class of musical school.

         Took part in competitions:

·     regional competition among studying schools of aesthetic education in Chernigiv: 2003 — diploma for the engaged (concerned) second place; 2004 — diploma for the engaged (concerned) first place;

·     2003 — laureate of the allukrainian festival “Clean dews”;

·     2004 — diplomant of the international opened festival-competition “Danko” in Odessa in the nomination “academic vocal”.

·     On May, 14-16 2005 — participation in the ІІ Allukrainian festival of children’s and youth creation “Sonnenstrahl” in Bila Tserkva.

·     2004 — the first place on regional competition of young musicians in Chernigiv;

·     2004 — winner of ІХ regional competition of young musicians of Yelena Verikovskaya in Kiev (Kiev state higher musical Glier school;

·     April 2005 — the first bonus (premium) of Allukrainian competition of young pianists in Kiev “Gold granules of Ukraine”;

·     On May 14-16, 2005 — participation in the second Allukrainian festival of child's and youth creation “Sonnenstrahl” in Bila Tserkva.

·     From June 3 till June 10, 2005 in St Petersburg — participation in Fifth International competition of young pianists “Step to skill”.

Khmelenok  Nicolai Pavlovich

Was born on September 14, 1958 in the village of Savichi of Bragin district of the Gomel region. Invalid of the first group of childhood (child’s cerebral paralysis). After living school acted (arrived) on the faculty of German language of Minsk state teacher’s college of foreign languages, which has finished with a difference (distinction) in 1981.

         Worked as a laboratory assistant at Savichi middle school, than, having finished institute, the teacher of German language.

         After Chernobil failure taught German at Nedoyka middle school of the Buda-Koshelyovo district of the Gomel region.

         In June, 1990 in connection with nasty illness of father moved nearer to the sister on Ukraine in Gorodnya, where lives now.

         Works in House of schoolchildren as teacher of groups of the German and English languages and teaches German at Gorodnya school Number 1. Published two manuals on German in the Pyatigorsk linguistic university. Searches for the sponsors for edition of the other books, in particular “Deutsch für Wunderkinder”.

         Is fond of poetry. Writers verses in Russian, Byelorussian and German languages.

         Deputy of district soviet of three convocations. Since December 2003 heads the Gorodnya district German cultural center “Interaction (Cooperation)”.

Truly, through thorns...

         I got used to get short news from him: postals, letters on one page, written with a rare now calligraphic handwriting. Sometimes in an envelope the poem is inlaid. Here one of recently got.

I remembered today again

Finding a volume turning yellow

How with a grandmother on Sunday

Went in an of prayer house.

I prayed so hot

Fearing spugnut a quiet:

— My God come back to life to me

Although hand one!

And he did not hear me

And he said nothing in reply...

         These hands weak, like taken by a cramp, folded to the breast, to me and dashed in eyes at the first meeting with Nicolai Khmelenok. It was to him then anymore little seventeen years. He just has finished school in the little hamlet Savichi, that under Bragin.

         A teacher was told, what costed to Nick, carrying child's cerebral paralysis, teaching at school. Hands obeyed badly, every step was hardly given. To write he could only standing, clutching a disobedient pen in both hands. And so — all ten school years. Finished secondary school by one of the best in a class.

         But not only the rare courage staggered me in a rural teenager. His pictures beziskusnie poludetskie, stunned by the color and light. A boy liked to draw a native house, birch near a gate in a fence, rural street escaping in the field. All it was inundated by a bright sunlight. It seemed, the walls at a home on his leaves made of logs radiated a heat. What light lived in the soul of this boy which and dews without a mother, only with a father and grandmother! It was desirable to understand that was the source of this glad look on a world. Kindness of people his surrounding? (In the country all knew and spared Nicolai). Selfless love of father, simple state farm carpenter above-ground in an eternal willingness to come to the son for help?

         Or ignorance, unguessed of the fate?

         If he knew that it is coming to him...

         Then in the house of Nicolai Khmelenok I was led by his letter in the release of “Soviet Byelorussia”. In him he sued for help. More precisely — about justice. To Nicolai callously belonged in the Minsk institute of foreign languages, where Khmelenok sent documents about the receipt on the extra-mural separation of German (he to them was carried away already in a seventh class, gained victories on district olympiads).

         I wrote an essay about Nicolai Khmelenok “Overcoming”. Disturbed by his fate, readers answered by hundred letters. After it the institute of higher corrected the mistake, and Nicolai became a student. Five years he twice in a year arrived to Minsk on winter and vesenyuyu sessions. And always with him alongside there was a father, whose help a son could not treat without. Nicolai finished institute of higher with a red diploma.

         Another victory over an ailment, above a fate.

         At school which he finished, to him were afraid to give lessons. “That a teacher which and a chalk in a hand will not retain this for?!”

         A newspaper interfered again, helped.

         But the main was in it. How to be included in a class and seen ten inquisitive, mischievous, curious child's eyes? How to compel them itself to listen? To lead away by beauties of stranger language? In one of letters he will write to me: It is “sometimes sick to see that boys pityingly look at me, helping me. Then I try to smile, as though heavily not was on a soul. I not very love, when I am spared”.

         Later it will be had to visit on the lessons of Nicolai Khmelenok. And again he will stagger me now already by pedagogical trade, by the complete domain by a class. How experimental diriger is, a teacher is able to retain attention of boys by both no the loan thought or bright appearance, or by a joke, and main — by the trust and respect to the students.

         Another height in his fate is taken.

         But ahead waited new, perchance, the heaviest test — hellish flame of Chernobil. It blazed in three ten kilometres from Savichi. And there was no defence from him. Who could, departed, left. And if feet walk hardly?..

         A whole summer was lived by Nicolai Khmelenok in the country, knowing all and understanding. Dosimetria passionless counted off the increasing quantity of millirentgens taken in by the people of the infected area. Nicolai will name this number in the letter. Will write about it without fear, without anger. And as a sentence to itself, will make off a letter the words: I will “be together with all, to the figure by the witness of all events”.

         Only by the end of the September Khmelenok will be a place will be found at other school. In little the country there is Nedoyka of the Buda-Koshelyovo district, thickly marked by the same radio-active “spots”.

         Here a young teacher “from an area”  was adopted well. A spacious house was given. But here and an ominous radiation went after this family. Told, it is visible, that they lived a whole summer under a side at the enraged atomic reactor. A grandmother took ill, she was buried soon. About itself the Nicolai will write from Nedoyka: A “health quite got unstuck. All winter was pursued by continuous colds. Began to trick into a heart, nerves”.

         A father had not time to scramble out after a heart attack, as soon — a new misfortune: hemorrhage in a brain. Podlomilas, main support of Nicolai collapsed. Two invalids, two helpless men remained one in the deserted house. They had relatives in Svetlogorsk. There and to get over. Nicolai wrote in different instances, up to Supreme Soviet, republic, asked to select habitation there. Said no. It is not fixed. Already one time “helped you”.

         Letters from Nicolai Chelenok left off to come. Then, after a few months, a postal from Gorodnya came, little small town on Chernigov region. The married sister of Nicolai lives there. Somewhere next to her settled and he with a sick father.

         If a fate beats and beats a man, if the way of him turns out is stony and steep, how to save heartfelt firmness, how not to inquire at the fate of mercy? With an alarm I waited a next letter from Nicolai. Will forces be enough at him to overcome this test? It was enough! Got the message almost elated: I “hurry to reveal to you, that I was taken on work in House of piones and schoolboys. There am I again among children!.. And people are here benevolent”.

         Once a rural boy-cripple asked from God to bring back to life him even one hand. Lord did not heed prayers of child. But he breathed in his soul rare firmness, force and patience.

         ... I got used to get short news from Nicolai Khmelenok. I wait them. I am necessary simply to know that this man lives on earth.

The dancing group “Zaubersaiten”

         The ensemble of the ballroom dance “Zaubersaiten” of Gorodnya German cultural center, created in December 2003, took part in all the measures German cultural center, in particular: in celebration Day of protection of children near the memorial Friendship in the village Senkovka, in the show-program “Miss-Gorodnya-2004”, in the day of memory of victims of deportation, in celebration of Day of city etc.

         In 2005 the ensemble of the ballroom dance “Zaubersaiten” participated in competition of the ballroom dances “April snowdrops”, organized by German cultural center jointly with Gorodnya district House of culture. Pairs were the best: Alexander Bykhovez — Katya Kovalenko, Peter Alekseenko — Alina Prus.

         In May 2005 a dancing collective participated in the ІІ Allukrainian festival of children’s and youth creation “Sonnenstrahl” in White Church.
